Trip to the seaside to help bereaved families overcome taboo

Colleagues at Co-op’s John Fairest Funeralcare in Sheffield are taking a trip to the seaside this summer for a day out with some of the families and individuals who they’ve supported throughout the year.

The Abbey Lane branch of Co-op Funeralcare will be taking the group on a coach trip to Scarborough on Monday 29th July for a fun filled day out by the sea.

John Fairest Funeralcare has been raising funds for the trip since the start of the year and to date has raised £806. Co-op colleagues organised a jumble sale at the local sports club to raise money for the expedition, they also hosted a raffle over the Easter period with an array of prizes up for grabs.

Tracy Wilson, Funeral Arranger at Co-op’s John Fairest Funeralcare, said: “We’re passionate about getting involved with our local community and are here to support those who need us through the bereavement process.

‘’We can’t wait to take our group of families and loved ones on the trip to Scarborough, it’s great to go that extra mile to put a smile on their faces and it promises to be a great day out for all involved – rain or shine!”

With over 1,000 funeral homes across the UK, the Co-op Funeralcare colleagues are passionate about delivering a sensitive, caring and professional service for families within their community.

Thanks to Co-op’s 1% scheme, a total of £19m has been raised for key local causes across the UK since November 2017.
